This policy explains how Compresso ("the app", "we") handles your data. Compresso compresses the photos and videos already on your iPhone so they take up less space.
Compresso requires access to your Photo Library to do anything at all. Everything it does with that access happens locally, on your device:
We never upload, transmit, or copy your photos and videos off your device. There is no cloud processing. Location and other metadata embedded in your photos is read on-device only and is never transmitted.
Three third-party services receive limited technical data, so that the app can be kept working, we can see how it is used, and purchases work. None of them receives your photos or videos.
Your choice: Settings → Share Analytics turns off both crash reports (Sentry) and usage statistics (Google Analytics). It is on by default.
Operated by Functional Software, Inc. When the app crashes or performs badly, a diagnostic report is sent containing the error, the sequence of actions leading to it, your device model, iOS version, and app version.
Because this app displays personal photos, two Sentry features that would capture them are deliberately disabled in our configuration: screenshot attachment and view-hierarchy attachment. Identifiers that could point back to a specific item in your library are removed before a report is sent. See Sentry's privacy policy.
Operated by Google. It shows us how the app is used — where people get stuck, and whether a change helped. The app records events such as "granted photo access", "kept, deleted or compressed an item", "finished a cleanup" or "opened the subscription screen", with small technical details: the media type, the number of items, the bytes saved. Google adds a random identifier for this installation of the app, your device model, iOS version, app version and language, and an approximate location (country and city) that it derives from a masked IP address. Google Analytics does not store the IP address itself. If you buy Compresso Pro, the purchase (product and price) may also be recorded. Events never contain your photos, file names, or anything that identifies an item in your library.
If you came to Compresso from an ad in the App Store, Apple's AdServices framework tells us which campaign and search keyword led to the install. This uses no advertising identifier.
Google processes this data to provide the Analytics service to us. The optional settings that would let Google also use it for its own products, benchmarks or sales are turned off, and so is Google signals. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Operated by RevenueCat, Inc. It validates and keeps track of your Compresso Pro purchase. It receives an anonymous identifier generated on your device and the purchase information Apple provides — never your name or email. It also receives the Google Analytics identifier of your installation, so that we can see which app version or ad campaign a purchase came from. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Everything below is collected without being linked to your identity, and none of it is used for tracking.
Compresso's own records — which months you have reviewed, what you compressed, how much space you reclaimed — are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud account, so that your progress follows you between your devices. We have no access to that iCloud data.
Usage statistics (section 3) are tied to the random identifier of your installation, not to your name, email or Apple Account. Google Analytics keeps them for 14 months. We also keep a copy of the same events in our own Google Cloud project, stored in the EU, to compare how app versions perform over time; that copy is also deleted after 14 months.
Deleting the app removes its local data, and Settings → Share Analytics stops anything new from being sent. Because the statistics are not linked to your identity, we usually cannot find yours by your name or email — but you are always welcome to write and ask.
Compresso is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it, and the current version is always published at this address.
